WRAP UP

In 1839 in Paris, Hippolyte Bayard, who was a public servant working in the Ministry of Finance there, mounted the first photographic print exhibition that we know about, when he put up 36 prints at a charity fete to raise money for earthquake victims in Martinique.

Whether he knew it or not, Hippolyte Bayard had begun a tradition taken up by photographic societies around the world and here we are at CMAG, 167 years later, upholding that tradition with an excellent presentation of photographic prints, made by members of The Canberra Photographic Society.
